“Being a physician, I feel that patients come to me with diseases that could’ve been prevented by proper knowledge about diet, lifestyle, common herbs and other preventative practices mentioned in the original Ayurvedic texts. I always feel that due to time constraints, physicians most of the time are not able to educate patients about these preventative practices. As patients too only come to a physician when there is a problem. An Ayurvedic therapist plays a very important role in fulfilling this gap between the individual and the physician. A well trained Ayurvedic therapist can maintain his/her health and also help and encourage others to live a healthy and balanced life.”

Dr Arun Sharma (Course Instructor)

“The understanding of the total nature of a subject does not arise from a fragmentary knowledge of it.”

Charaka Samhita (Vi 4/5-1500 B.C.E.) – ‘The Father of Ayurveda’

Our aim is to bring this fragmented knowledge into a cohesive whole, give a proper historical and current world perspective on Ayurveda, as well as to equip every student with a learning methodology they can use to apply Ayurveda correctly and precisely in their everyday life and practice.

This course includes comprehensive theory and practical sessions through which you will study the Ayurvedic perspective on how to understand the human body and mind. We put emphasis on the body and mind connection and how they work physiologically and the affect when one becomes imbalanced.

This course is an outcome of Dr Arun Sharma’s experience as an Ayurvedic physician, influenced by his lineage and many other great teachers that he has studied with. It gives proper technique and approach to any student wishing to study this vast subject. It is refined from years of practice and teaching, and contains undiluted material taken from great masters like Charaka, Sushruta and Vagabhata.

Ayurveda is directly translated as the science of life. Dr Arun Sharma calls it “the science of common sense”. Ayurveda is a user’s manual for this life and teaches us to live with utmost clarity and awareness towards oneself, life, health, disease, mind and the universe.

Through our experience of teaching Ayurveda, we found many people try to learn Ayurveda in bits and pieces through various sources, resulting in fragmented knowledge. We follow a unique methodology and provide a solid foundation as well as a holistic picture for studying and applying Ayurveda.

In this programme we cover Ayurvedic philosophy, physiology, psychology, routine, the cycle of pathology, basics of diagnosis and conducting consultations that includes prakriti examination (constitution) and vikriti examination (imbalances). We also learn about treatments which include: diet and nutrition, common Ayurvedic herbs, lifestyle changes, and over 30 Ayurvedic manual treatments and massages. We will be learning most of the pre-panchakarma treatments in this intensive programme.

Students who have completed this course are now practicing Ayurveda in their countries offering Ayurvedic consultations, treatments, lifestyle advice, advice about common Ayurvedic herbs, running retreats, yoga therapy, setting up Ayurvedic shops and markets. They have also been teaching Ayurvedic courses, workshops, massage classes, nutrition classes, and teaching Ayurveda at yoga teacher training programmes. View our alumni here
